ITANAGAR, May 25: Panchali Upper CRPF Camp and Dara Camp Welfare Committee of Itanagar have decided to impose restriction on earth cutting along the road side in their areas. The decision was taken unanimously after considering the present deteriorating condition of road due to blockade in drainage system and accumulation of mud on the road.
It stated that land owners have to seek permission from the state officer before earth cutting.
Committee sets fresh deadline
ITANAGAR, May 25: Expressing concern over the delay in implementation of road from Darak to Boru Raksap under SPA in West Siang district, Poyom Raksap Youth Development Committee today asked the executing agency to start the road work within May 28. If the agency fails to start work within given time of six days beginning from May 23, the Yomcha PWD should start the road work in order to avoid any kind of agitation, the committee said.

for all Indian mountain states’ the second edition of the IMI -
Representatives from eleven mountain and hill states of the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) consisting of Ministers, MPs, academicians, scholars, practitioners, government representatives, NGOs and students gathered to contribute towards formulation of policies and strategies for comprehensive development of the region.
The Arunachal delegates for the summit included Pema Khandu, Tourism Minister, Ninong Ering, Member of Parliament (East), AK Singh, Director, Tourism and Nalong Mize, ED, Future Generations Arunachal.
Speaking as chief guest during the summit, KT Gyaltsen, Speaker of the Sikkim state legislative assembly hoped that the outcome emerging from the deliberation will definitely contribute towards formulation of some policies and strategies globally.
He felt that sustainable mountain development initiative has to be considered in local, regional and global term as it will impact the people world over.

Gangtok, May 25: Arunachal and Sikkim has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual collaboration in the Tourism sector after a delegation of the Tourism department led by Minister Pema Khandu and accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary PD Sona, Secretary Sonam Chombay, AK Singh and two engineers had a high level meeting with its Sikkim counterpart for mutual cooperation in the tourism today.

Bhim Dhungel, Minister Tourism, Govt of Sikkim, while welcoming the delegation to the State praised the young team of Arunachal tourism’s enthusiasm and also the huge potential Arunachal has in the tourism sector. He endorsed the issues flagged by Khandu and agreed that both Sikkim and Arunachal can jointly work in the tourism sector for mutual benefit. Tourism managers of both the states agreed that the Protected Area Permit is a major bottleneck for foreign tourists and resolved to jointly address the problem by placing it before the Home Ministry. The North East MP Forum would also be requested to take up this matter at their level. Minister Dhungel also offered to help Arunachal Tourism in capacity building of the stakeholders. Skill development of unemployed youths in the tourism sector figured prominently in the meeting.
While congratulating Sikkim of its achievements in the tourism sector, PD Sona proposed that both Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh can share their experiences, concerns, identify areas of mutual benefits and work out ways to put such areas into action.
Burial cum cremation ground battles encroachment, garbage dumps

ITANAGAR, May 25: With the ever growing encroachment of government land in the twin towns of state capital, even the lone Burial cum Cremation ground has not been spared where more than thousand mortal remains are buried and cremated.
Adding to the problem, for the last three years the Urban Development department instead of refurbishing, has made it a garbage dump as heaps of trash is dumped at the entrance gate.
The government of India through Urban Department has spent Rs 3.50 crores on the cremation ground for developing of Chowkidar house, dead body shed, water supply, electrification, security wall and flood control measures. But within a short span, the approach road and compound wall of the ground partially collapsed resulting encroachment and dismantling of public properties by some individuals.
Concerned over the damage of public property inside the general burial ground, former Capital MLA Kipa Babu had lodged an FIR at Nirjuli and Banderdewa Police stations two months back and also wrote a letter to Capital Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter.
However, the District Administration and the police officials of concerned police station could not take any action against those individuals who dismantled the sheds of the ground despite disclosing of their names and identity.
Babu further informed that the ground measuring approx: 2 hectres of land was purchased
by him in 2003-
He urged the UD department to renovate the ground and also appealed to the people to spare the lone burial ground from encroachment.
He also cautioned the government that if the government is not at all interest in protecting and preserving the lone general cremation ground for citizens of twin towns of state capital, there is no way left except taking it back.

Former MP Ratan Tama passes away
Itanagar, May 25: Former Rajya Sabha member Ratan Tama passed away today at his Itanagar residence. He had been battling ill health for the last two years.
Ratan Tama was son of late Ratan Tacho and Ratan Berji of Rotom of Lower Subansiri district. He is survived by five wives and eighteen children. He did his schooling and graduation from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, West Bengal.

Govt warns action against bandh callers
ITANAGAR, May 25: Reacting strongly against the Capital Bandh called on May 28 next by few organizations, the Government today denounced the very existence of such organizations terming it as politically motivated having no mandate in the society.
The organizations have been attempting to gain cheap popularity through blackmailing the government and taking the common people for ransom. Their demands are made with ulterior motive and malicious intentions to create disharmony in the society just for their vested interest, said Government spokesperson Nabam Rebia.
Any organization disturbing the peace and jeopardizing the fundamental rights of common citizens shall be dealt with iron hands, he said as the government appealed the common citizens to discourage Bandh cultures which have become a menace in the state. The Bandh calls not only hamper the developmental activities of the state but badly affect the daily wage earners who are the worst sufferers, the statement added.
The government had constituted a high level committee headed by Land Commissioner as chairman, Parliamentary Secretary Tax & Excise, Local MLA, Political Secretary to CM, Secretary Law, DC Capital, Director Land management and one representative from the agitating organization as members to examine with regards to land allotment made to non APSTs in the capital complex.
Accordingly, the committee in their series of sittings had gone to the facts and figures and has compiled a detailed report for the final decision of the government.

CHANGLANG, May 25: The District level monitoring committee meeting of the planning department Changlang District was held today at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner , to monitor all completed and ongoing centrally sponsored schemes ,Under NLCPR, SPA, ACA, NEC, RIDF ,PM’s Packages and PMGSY. The concerned Executive Engineers from PWD, RWD, PHED, POWER, HPD and WRD explained in detail on their specific schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Level monitoring Committee, Opak Gao, desired that such monitoring committee meetings be conducted every quarter of the year. He further advised coordination of Administrative Officers, legislators and ZPMs for proper selection of schemes.
The Changlang District ZP chairperson, Junpo Taikam Jugli, appealed to all the Executive agencies to provide a copy of the fund allotted for infrastructure development to local Administrative Officers and ZPM. She wanted that meeting should be called in respective administrative circle level to have firsthand knowledge of various schemes.

Failed tests, brokers and govt jobs

It was very astonishing, when I heard about the recent trend of indiscretions and corruptions practiced in some of the state govt. job competitive examinations; delaying, bidding and rewriting of answer papers. Such practice cannot be caught even through RTI. It is not appropriate to name the particular department but it happens in almost every department.
My friend is an engineering graduate and good in maths. He give tuitions to Class-
These days in some departments, you get jobs if you liaise with the right people including brokers and government officials.
During a recently held examination, my friend was one among the candidates. After a month of written examination, one of his tuition students, also a candidate of same examination brought some questions and asked my friend to solve it for him. Later, the candidate disclosed that he paid lakhs of money to the brokers. Since the candidate did not qualify for the viva, the broker asked him to rewrite the answer and submit it.
Such practices are intentionally shaped by the department officials. In between, they check the answer paper, if qualified then negotiation for viva. If not, rewrite the answer script. In such a situation, neither it can be cross checked through RTI nor can such irregularities be detected by any organization. If such uncontrolled trend continues, we would have many unfit and unqualified people sitting in offices.
This can only be controlled and cross checked, if the results of written examination, interviews, etc. are declared within specific time frame. The candidates, student’s Unions and unemployed youths of the state should demand the departments for early declaration of result. Also, the state govt. should strictly check such irregularities; otherwise, state govt will have to bear the burden of employees who do not deliver services as expected.

I would like to highlight how the employees of the state Govt are earning extra income at the state capital. In fact, the Govt. employees who have been allotted Government quarters at capital complex never vacate it even after they are transferred despite the rule where it is clearly stated that government accommodation be vacated within a certain time frame.
They are using Govt. properties as their own by keeping their relatives and leasing it out on rent. Whereas some of the employees who have been transferred to capital complex are facing difficulties as they are compelled to settle at rented house by paying high amount.
Therefore, I would like to know what steps are being taken against those who indulge in such practices. Whether the defaulters are liable to be prosecuted as per the provision of law? Whether these defaulters are regularly paying revenue to the state govt. against their illegally occupied properties?
So, I request the state govt. to kindly initiate action against those who have illegally occupied Govt. quarters by imposing punishment as per the provision of law.

Dear Editor,
It is disheartening to see that Reader’s Forum, the most sought after and liked column of your esteemed daily is occupied by some unnecessary letters which are not at all related to our people; the recent one being on IPL by one Kajal Chatterjee from Kolkata.
I do not say that he/she is not a good writer but letters should at least reflect our state and the problems of the peoples, because I treat your daily as mouth piece of a common Arunachalee. If someone wants to know about national issue or others, surely they will switch to TV.
Most of our people buy your daily not for national or international matters but to know about the happenings in the states and also because local grievances are reflected in Readers Forum section.
Therefore, inserting unnecessary topics like IPL is misusing your valuable space. These things can be taken up for discussion at Parliament and by the cricket and legal experts.
Hope to see your paper doing yeoman services by bringing out discontentment of Arunachalees and corrective suggestions.
To add, the road separator at Bank Tinali may be painted white as during rainy nights it is not visible which may cause serious traffic accidents.

Dear Editor,
I would like to draw the attention of authority towards an incident that happened at my area on May 25, where it was a bandh day in our neighbour state. A group of people from there came to my area and vandalized the market.
When there is a bandh in some other state, how can they come and force it on us? How can people from there come and close the market? It's out of their jurisdiction.
For people living in the border areas, dependent on Assam for communication, there is not much choice.
So I would like to request the local MLA & state govt to take immediate steps to
